Abstract

The “Roundtable on African Americans in a Diversifying Workforce,” the first joint IRRA/National Economic Association (NEA) workshop, examined the implications of diversity for different policy options in the workplace and the labor force. A focus of the roundtable discussion was: “What has increased diversity in the workplace meant for policies that were originally designed for a white-black workplace?” Moderated by James Auerbach, National Policy Association, panelists included: James Jackson, Program for Research on Black Americans, University of Michigan; Bernard Anderson, Assistant Secretary of Employment Standards Administration, Department of Labor; Margaret Simms, Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies; and Norman Hill, A. Phillip Randolph Institute.
