In some ways the COVID-19 pandemic has changed everything — millions of workers have lost their jobs, essential workers risk exposure to the deadly virus for themselves and their families, and the economy has collapsed with levels of unemployment similar to the Great Depression. In other ways, the coronavirus has changed nothing — it only crystallizes underlying political and economic dynamics that have been building for decades.
