Abstract

Let me be honest. I’m not sure that we need another book that surveys the past, present, and future of American labor. Any retelling of labor’s past is a choice of which stories to tell and which ones to ignore. But how about the ones you don’t know about, yet others do? Every time I teach a la-bor history class, I relearn the lesson of lesser-known but powerful accounts of worker struggles.
