Abstract
The rise of the “on-demand” platform economy has been one of the most publicized recent developments in the American workplace. On-demand companies offer nonstandard employment arrangements with the contingent work of “independent contractors,” or service providers, resulting in a major stream of revenue for those creating and managing companies’ online platforms.
