Abstract

In 2006, the Wall Street Journal found notable an argument in Clair Brown, John Haltiwanger, and Julia Lane’s book Economic Turbulence—that job  turnover and firm disappearance may actually have positive effects,  generating effi ciency, products, and, most importantly, jobs. In  Buddhist  Economics, Brown challenges herself—how many people can claim to do  that!—by questioning the assertion the Wall Street Journal praised.
