Abstract

As part of the 2002 IRRA annual meeting, the IRRA Human Resources Network sponsored its fourth annual Doctoral Student Consortium. The program included a panel discussion on university teaching titled “Achieving Excellence in the Classroom.” Although a rare Atlanta snowstorm prevented some students and one panelist from attending, presentations were prepared by Peter Feuille of the University of Illinois, Larry “Chip” Hunter of the Wharton School, and Doug Mahoney of the University of South Carolina. The presenters stressed that professors who want to achieve teaching excellence must be thoroughly prepared, use modern information technology effectively, and take an interest in their students.
