Abstract

The stock market’s dot.com bubble may have burst, but the Internet continues to transform the conduct of business and the contours of the workplace. Technology has always played a role in shaping work and industrial relations. The Internet refashions work through its unique capacity to promote efficiency, community, and group action. The opportunities that this technology holds for businesses have been widely reported. In reality, though, who will benefit from the Internet-driven workplace— and how they will benefit—is still very much an open question.
