I write to invite your participation in the formation of a Federal-Sector Industry Council. The March 2004 IRRA Newsletter invited proposals to create Industry Councils as part of an initiative sponsored by the Sloan Foundation “to grow the industry studies community.” The councils are intended to “engage in discussions, research, and educational and scholarly activities regarding industrial relations on an industry-by-industry basis.” In addition, councils “will provide for constructive discussions among management, labor, government, scholars and neutrals, and participants in the various activities of the IRRA, contributing on a regular basis to its meeting and publications."
