Abstract

On December 30, 2003, activist, practitioner, student, and teacher Susan C. Eaton died from complications of acute leukemia. On May 14, 2004, colleagues from MIT and The Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University hosted a conference to discuss the major issues and challenges facing those engaged in the different domains in which Susan worked. The program was ambitious: to discuss what we learned from Susan and consider how her work can continue in the areas of work and family, union leadership, the healthcare workforce, and teaching.
