Abstract

Challenges facing the field of industrial and labor relations (ILR) have recently been the subject of considerable discussion and debate. Much has been written about the threats facing the practice and study of industrial relations as a result of changing economic and social conditions. As organizers of LERA’s 2006 PhD Student Consortium, we wish to emphasize the implications our field’s uncertain future has for its younger generation and more specifically for its graduate students.
