Abstract

The Annual Meeting of LERA in 2006 emphasized the importance of financial and social capital for achieving outcomes that work for all stakeholders. This article shares some research results that reinforce this viewpoint. A few years ago, colleagues and I studied how U.S. airlines responded to the disaster of September 11, 2001. We learned important lessons about how financial and social capital work together and can strengthen each other.
