Abstract

The global airline research council project moved forward over these past several months by continuing to explore the interrelationships among business models, employment relations, and economic performance in both newer low-cost and older legacy carriers in the United States, Europe, Asia, and Australia. Here we summarize interim results of our work in the United States and Europe, which we reported at the August 2006 Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service’s National Labor Management Conference in Chicago. Final results of the individual case studies we have underway in countries around the world will be presented at LERA’s annual meeting in January 2007.
