After reading The Global Evolution of Industrial Relations, it is hard not to draw the sad conclusion that the academic subject of industrial relations-as practiced not only in the United States but also in much of the rest of the world-faces imminent extinction unless it undergoes a radical transformation in both its purpose and content.
