Abstract

At the 2005 LERA Annual Conference, the organization's Washington, D . C., chapter (DC IRRA) won the LERA Star Award, one of two chapters (out of approximately sixty) winning the award that year. LERA gives this honor to chapters that earn merit awards in at least six of eight award categories in five consecutive years. The DC IRRA won in the community involvement category because of its participation in a project, funded primarily by the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS) , called Workplace Issues and Collective Bargaining in the Classroom (WICB ) .
