Abstract

We in the union movement learned many lessons from last year's presidential election-some good, some not so good. We learned we can successfully educate and mobilize union members for political action, although sometimes this isn't enough to win an election. We learned that union members continue to be committed to participating in the political process, but that we must do even more to reach our base voters. We also learned that while women voters remain a powerful segment of the voting population, too often their issues are not adequately addressed and their vote is taken for granted.
